Mental Health Panel Discussion

Mental health advocates, family members, and community partners are invited to attend a special event at SAM that is in partnership with the I’m fine Project and Children First.  All children in Pennsylvania deserve access to high-quality, culturally relevant mental health care.  This event will feature a panel of lived experts and youth voices to discuss the challenges of the existing system and explore solutions for improvement.  This panel discussion will occur amidst the I’m fine: Pennsylvania exhibition on view in SAM’s Lehr Gallery through May 19.

Participants:

  • Representative Justin Fleming – Representative Justin Fleming represents the 105th District and is a member of the PA House Mental Health Caucus.  He has dedicated his career to public service, especially as an advocate to expand mental health care.  Before becoming a state representative, Representative Fleming worked at the National Association of Social Workers and Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children.
  • Katie Dooley – Katie Dooley is an art therapist certified by the Art Therapy Credentials Board.  She has built her career providing art therapy in school-based settings as well as clinical settings.  She also works as an advocate for art therapy as a member of the Delaware Valley Art Therapy Association.
  • Student Voice – the panel will also feature a student’s perspective on mental health.

This event is FREE, but registration is REQUIRED.
