Making in Multiples: Relief Printmaking
Instructed by Fee Dominguez
Relief printmaking is one of the oldest techniques around, during this 3-hour workshop, students will be introduced to the magic of creating multiples. This workshop is beginner-friendly, as participants will be taught the fundamentals of relief printmaking. Using imagery from Making Your Mark, the exhibition in the Lehr Gallery of the Susquehanna Art Museum, as inspiration, together we will learn how to carve out our images and transfer them onto paper with ink.Â
About the instructor:
Mexican-American artist, Fee Dominguez, is a dual-degree graduate from Millersville University, majoring in Art Education and Fine Arts with a concentration in printmaking. She took her first teaching opportunity in Karlstad, Sweden as a textiles teacher. Since then, they have been expanding their artist career under the name Feemaleartist. They have worked on several local projects including a mural commissioned by Music for Everyone, a Lancaster Based organization dedicated to funding music and art-related programs in the area; a community art show ‘Home is Here’ to help raise awareness on affordable housing, and PCAD sponsored workshops focusing on making art accessible to adults the community. In their free time, they lead an organization, PERIOD of Lancaster, focused on providing period products in public places.Â
Fee’s art conveys feminine expression and human reflection through a signature style of playfully dreamy motifs inspired by Japanese art. She attempts to capture the essence of transience and imperfect beauty with her playful linework and diary-like use of existential and confessional phrases. Fee enjoys utilizing various artistic mediums to explore their changing mood and inspirations. Their illustrations have been featured in Urban Outfitters and local group shows.Â
