Half Truths, Artistic Expressions 2021

Artistic Expressions Summer Academy is a week-long intensive program for advanced art students from regional high schools who are recommended by their art teachers. Each year, the museum and Midtown Harrisburg become the campus where students work with guest artists, explore multiple media, and interpret artwork on view in the museum.

This year, each artist selected one of the forty-nine paintings from Circle of Truth, which is currently on view in the Beverlee and Bill Lehr Gallery. The students searched for the truth within their inspiration painting and responded on their own 20″ x 20″ canvases. Each image’s title bears the sequence number of their inspiration painting and “.5” as if it could be inserted into Circle of Truth.
