Exhibition Tour and Artist Discussion with Timothy Barr

Join Director of Exhibitions Lauren Nye for a tour of the exhibition In Nature’s Studio and a discussion with featured artist Timothy Barr. The tour will highlight historic works on view, the trajectory of American landscape painting, and the impact it had on modern and contemporary art. Nye and Barr will conclude the tour with a seated question and answer session illuminating Barr’s work on view and the influence historic painting methods have had on his development.

Timothy Barr was born in 1957, in Hamburg, PA. His mother and father, an artist and a musician, had a great influence on Timothy’s choice to become a painter. From early childhood, Barr had a great desire to become a professional artist. He attended Pennsylvania Governors School for the Arts and the Tyler School of Fine Art at Temple University. Timothy is an avid outdoorsman, and his love of nature is strikingly represented in each of his paintings.
