Art Moves + Accompaniment

Join instructor Shani Jones and guest musicians for this unique movement and wellness class. Offered in the shared space of the Main Gallery, each class transforms into a live installation, where participants explore both movement and stillness, as well as interact with live musicians, amidst the artwork currently on view.  Class is limited to 12 students and everyone must wear masks at all times.

Class takes place on Saturday morning while the museum is open to the public, in the Lehr Gallery. Instructor Shani Jones leads the flow from her mat, with inspired visual and verbal cues! A student of yoga since the mid 90’s, Shani has spent 1000+ hours in teacher training programs and over 5000 hours of teaching time. Shani completed her first teacher certification with Don and Amba Stapleton and completed advanced teacher training certification with Shiva Rea.

This class is for adults 16+. Teens age 13 – 16 may participate if accompanied by an adult. All levels of experience welcome.

House pianist Ralph Diekemper will provide live accompaniment on both dates.

*Please bring a yoga mat, and a towel or blanket as the floor in the gallery is quite hard. Also, participants who chill easily are invited to wear layers, as the Main Gallery is maintained at 70 degrees F.

“I facilitate mindful movement  alchemy and collaborate with musicians. It is an improvisational process of cultivating inner state of being as a living art. Breath and body and sound are used as a  conduit for restoring the healing flow of rhythm and range, creativity and control.”       –  Shani Jones, instructor
