Kevyn Knox’s Pez Collection

“I was asked how I got started as a Pez Collector. It was my lovely wife who got the Pez ball rolling. When I first met Amy, in our whirlwind four-week courtship before getting hitched, she had eight Pez dispensers sitting on her dresser. As a lark, I was at the convenience store one day and decided to buy her another. Then another. Then another. Then another. The collection quickly went from Amy’s dresser to a wall shelf to a corner cabinet to a whole bookcase to a hallway to an entire room. The Pez Room!

Twenty-six years later and that modest collection of eight Pez dispensers on Amy’s dresser has turned into a room full of 3,339 dispensers, plus another 500 or so Pez-related items such as banks and cups and clocks and flags and money clips and pens and pretty much anything you can think of. And we’re not stopping anytime soon. In fact, I just bought four new ones a mere hour before writing this – and will probably add more by the time you are reading this.

One of the most fun aspects of our collection is watching the faces of those who do not know as they enter the aforementioned Pez Room. It’s always a blend of astonishment and ‘gee, these people must be crazy.’ Well, we might just be, but ya know what? There used to be a Pez Museum in Easton, PA. They shut down over a decade ago. Why? Well, I can’t prove this, but I think it was because they just couldn’t compete with our collection – which was bigger. Yeah, we might be crazy. “
