The Art & Science of Color

The vastness of color, whether it is reflected, projected, or processed, presents a distinct opportunity for individual perceptions. Often it is the essence of mood, a lens through which we understand the material world. As optical science continues to expand our understanding of color as a physical phenomenon, the potential for artists to utilize color as a tool for expression is boundless. We ask each artist to consider the subtle possibilities of color at the heart of a work of art, and the long-lasting sensory impressions left on the viewer.

The Art & Science of Color is a juried DŌSHI Gallery exhibition on view at Whitaker Center from June 13 – August 22, 2014. During the Susquehanna Art Museum’s transitional period into our new location in Midtown, Harrisburg, we are continuing to collaborate with area arts organizations for exhibitions and educational programming space.
