Museum visitors and members are invited to join this discussion with Turry Flucker, the curator of Art and Activism at Tougaloo College. He will discuss the legacy and history of Tougaloo College and the growth of its art collection, we will then conclude with a question and answer session.
Turry will be joined by M.J. (Mike) O’Brien, author of We Shall Not Be Moved: The Jackson Woolworth’s Sit-In and the Movement It Inspired and Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, Tougaloo graduate and life-long civil rights activist to discuss the activism portion of the program.Â
A reception with light refreshments will precede the discussion. Â Join us for the reception 5:30 – 6:00 pm and the discussion with Turry beginning at 6:00 pm.

Turry M. Flucker serves as Vice President of Collections and Partnerships at the Terra Foundation for American Art, and as the director and curator of Tougaloo College Art Collections in Tougaloo, MS. He authored and curated the traveling exhibition Art and Activism at Tougaloo College, which is co-organized by the American Federation of Arts.
