Eccentricity: Selected works from the 2017 Artistic Expressions Student Exhibition
The Susquehanna Art Museum welcomes Grace Gilbert as the first student curator for the Education Center Gallery. Grace Gilbert is a senior at Lower Dauphin High School, where she serves as President of the National Art Honors Society. Grace earned two Silver Keys and a Gold Key for Painting in the South Central Pennsylvania Scholastic Art Awards. Grace plans to attend Moravian College, where she will continue her studies in visual art, creative writing and Spanish. Identified by her art teacher Dana Attivo as an exemplary art student whose appreciation for art surpasses her own personal endeavors, the museum invited Grace to develop a concept and title for this exhibition, as well as select work from the 2017 Artistic Expressions exhibition.
Artistic Expressions features the work of exemplary student artists from secondary schools throughout Central Pennsylvania. Coordinated by area art educators, the mission of Artistic Expressions is to give art students from different schools exhibition opportunities, collaborative events, and education. For more information about Artistic Expressions please visit www.artistic-expressions.org.
All of the pieces in this show demonstrate inventive thinking and creative solutions – the fact that this originality is rooting itself into the burgeoning artists of our high schools goes to show the importance of youth involvement in culture and society.
