The Maternal Journal Workshop

This exhibition-based workshop is self-care for a mother’s creative spirit. Artist and curator Alison Elizabeth Keener will lead a discussion about the intersection of creativity and mothering with reflective significance within her own practice. Keener is the guest curator of the current exhibition Mythologies of Motherhood, on view at Susquehanna Art Museum through June 26.

Participants of this free workshop will embark on creative writing and visual journaling, with the assistance of featured artist Phoebe Heath. Expect a relaxed creative flow, allowing for reflection on the journey of motherhood. Some collage materials will be provided, but it is suggested that participants bring items of personal significance to create with as well. This can include family photos, journal pages, fabric, printed materials, etc.

This event is open to all who identify as mothers, and artistic skills are not required. The workshop is intended to be a welcome space to help share experiences and create freely without judgement. Participation is free, but advance RSVP is required. RSVP below.
